Buying iPhone 3GS

I have an original iPhone and am planning on upgrading. I really want to go to the Apple store the day of and wait it out in the lines and get it as soon as possible. I tried to pre-register or whatever online, but there was an issue. It said that I had to go to the store with ID, SS# and credit card and then I could get a phone. So I guess I just have to wait until the June 19th to get it. BUT... I am a college student and my account is still tied in with my parents' and my dad is the account holder, so i assume the ID is for proving that the buyer is the account holder. Just wondering if anyone else had this issue last year with the 3G? Thanks for any info....
