Buying Iphone 4S to be used in another country

Hi guys. Im from Brazil but going to NYC soon. I'd like to buy the new Iphone 4S. Let me know if there is a definitive unlocking process for it or people still unlocking via Turbo sim card,etc..
I mean, I need to know if I have to pay double price to buy it unlocked from Apple or if I can buy normal one and unlock that .

There is a SIM interposer, the Gevey Ultra S.

BUT, it only works on 5.0 or 5.01 the current version 5.1 is not supported.

Buy a factory unlocked version, more expensive, but no hassle and good resale value.
