Buying iphone 5, Please help

I want to go to a ATT store to buy my iphone 5.

My question is, Can I buy my iphone 5 for ATT without a ATT account? Has anyone done this? I am going to use with prepaid carriers.
I want to buy it at full price with no commitment and I dont see why I cant if I pay the full price for the phone.

I just wanted to see before I go down there
