Buying iphone in usa for use in australia

I am thinking of buying an unlocked iphone4 in san francisco($300 ??), using it whilst travelling for 3 weeks or som then taking it back home to Australia where i'll use it.

- whats the best prepaid sim to use in USA (west coast) ?
- how much would USA maps cost so I can use the GPS in the US ?
- any problems with then using the iphone back in Oz ? (will get a cap plan with THREE, my current carrier)

Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Good luck with that price ($300), it'll be at least $1000 from what I've heard. Either you're buying something that's not legit (read: stolen) or you're getting scammed.

Buy it in Australia from Apple where it's unlocked.
