I'd like to buy an iPhone for a friend overseas in-store (wanted take advantage of Discover Apple Pay promo and this only works in-store) and I know many people have said that the ones you buy at the store full price are unlocked. Do I have to present my carrier account info, thereby adding the phone to my plan, in order to buy the phone?

The phones that are paid in full are unlocked so you do not need to provide carrier information.

when your buying the phone at full price, simply tell them what phone, (6S or 6S Plus), color & storage. They will grab the phone and then ask you how you intend on paying (credit, Debit or cash), then walk out
