Here is the situation:

My sister's Macbook is outdated with Snow Leopard, I am so happy with Lion that I told her I was going to buy her a copy.

here is the question?

If I use my Apple ID to pay for the OS on her computer am I going to be the registered owner of that Macbook or she will always be the Owner?

I don't want to her lose the authority over the Macbook just because I upgrade the OS.

Anyone with this kind of situation?

You know you can gift her the "App", or give her the $30 through iTunes/MAS to buy it herself. Then you don't have to worry about the licensing.

Gifting it would make the most sense - she will get that specific item and she will be the owner and it will be tied to her own account.

What the others said. Also, even if you signed into the App Store with your account, you couldn't purchase Lion again because it would already show you have a copy of it. Just gift it.
