I live in London but will be travelling to Bahrain next week, and it seems a good opportunity to pick up a Macbook Air.

I know Dixons in Heathrow sells some Mac hardware 'tax free', but I'm not sure they have the Air as it's not on their website. Does anyone know of any other place in Heathrow or in Bahrain that might sell the Air?

Thanks,

Tom

Certainly nowhere else in Heathrow. Prices in Dixons "Tax Free" aren't particularly good anyway.

If you buy in Bahrain, watch out for the customs guys on your way back!

Yes, I figured on that... but if travelling back with only one laptop and no packaging I doubt they'd have reason to question. Thoughts?

Also I've since checked with Dixons and they don't stock the Air (yet). :(

Well it's still illegal, they sometimes do thorough random searches (leaving it to you to prove that you didn't buy it outside the UK) and they'll kick your butt bigtime if they catch you.

You could just declare it and pay the VAT - it would still probably work out cheaper than the UK. I don't think that UK import duty is payable on computers.
