So I am trying to decide what GHz (2.1 or 2.4), GB (2 or 4) and a hard drive (160 or 250 GB). I like to do a lot of word processing, but am also a huge Sims 2 fan. I have all the expansion packs and a ton of custom content and would dearly love to play it on a mac. (i'm a 1st time mac user.) Also, i can't decide if i want to play Sims 2 with boot camp, since my game is pc version, or invest in Parellel of Vmware. Pointers would be apriciated...
 
Well read my specs in my sig, I run boot camp to use games, my GF plays sims 2 all the time on it and it runs at super high settings at 1440x900 resolution. If you are going for a MacBook and not a MacBook pro, you will need at least 128MB video card, I don't know if they offer that in a MB. If you are going to be using a MacBook Pro anyone of them will run Sims 2 perfect. I don't advise running games in Fusion or Parallels, use Boot camp and just boot to windows that way you get full system resources. Hope that helps.
 
I would opt for a MBP and bootcamp windows XP for your Sims 2. I also play and have lots of custom content. I think running it on a Macbook will be difficult to say the least, but check around and see if others have pulled it off. Good luck to you, and congrats on switching. :)
