Buying Macbook

I live in Israel and want to buy a Macbook for my friend who lives in USA.
My friend is a student, so I want to use the education discount.

Can I buy the Macbook online with my credit card and he will just pick it up and show his student card?

Or the other option - I will give him my credit card number and he will order the mac on his name. Will they ask for credit card holder at the apple store?

And another question -
If I choose the pickup from apple store option, but there is no configuration I choose at the store right now, how long it will take to Ship to Apple Store?

I want the Macbook Air core i5, 8GB RAM do you think it will take a few days to ship to the store?

I would expect no more than a couple days for in store pick up, but you want to confirm a couple things before proceeding:

1) That you can use your credit card with the Apple US Online Store (they may reject cards if the billing address is outside the US)
2) That the original credit card is not required to pick up from the store

For #2, best bet is to call the store directly and ask them. For #1 the only way to find out is to try.
