Buying MBP, Should I upgrade?

I'm going to buy the 13" MBP this weekend for $1100 (edu discount) I get the free (mail-in rebate) iPod touch which I'm going to sell on eBay. So I'll spend $900 on a MBP :D Is there any reason I should BTO instead of getting at the store and buying 4gb RAM for $60 and 500 HDD for $100 from newegg (and should I not get the 7200 rpm)?
 
There is no reason why you should get Apple's updates, unless they are cheaper, which they are not. Just one word of warning, if you ever have to send in your machine to get serviced, make sure you put the Apple ram back in, as Cupertino is notorious for stealing third party ram.
 
no problem with that. that's exactly what i'm looking at doing within the next month, i might go for the 15" though.
