The buyers guide says not to buy and it looks like new MBP are right around the corner. I need to buy a labtop on apr 7th, Should I just go ahead with the MBP or go with a cheaper alternative until new ones are released?

Also, I'm not a 100% but it looks like all the newer models will be retinas. Would it be worth it to buy the last of the MBP non retina with the idea of being able to upgrade it in the future?

Thanks in advance

If you need to buy one soon, then buy it.

The next release coming out will not be significantly better. I've heard it will only it will have a roughly 10% faster CPU.

With regards to rMBP vs cMBP, buy a maxed out rMBP with 16GB RAM (and the 1GB VRAM GPU) if you can afford it. If not, buy a cMBP and manually upgrade it yourself.
