I'm going to buy a 15" Macbook Pro and I want to do it online, mainly to save the tax, which in CA is about $270 on the system I want.

Does anyone have any favorite places to buy that give good rebates, preferably cash or free RAM?

I'm not interested in inkjet printers. I've looked at Amazon and CDW. There's a Macmall in my town, so no tax savings there.

Also, does anyone who bought one of these have any advice on drive and ram options? I want to use Avid, so I'm thinking 3g ram (avid doesn't recognize 4 for some reason).

Hard disk size? Was the one you bought too small or just right?

I'm excited about it. Please help.

You could try ebay, as far as i know you do not have to pay taxes there. You can get some good prices on apple.com refurb shop, i am not sure if you have to pay taxes there.

As for the hard drive, you can always upgrade it yourself, you have to be extra careful and watch a few youtube movies. It takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to change it out depending on how careful you are. I did it on my friends laptop and its working great with a 250GB hard drive.
