If i buy a MacBook Pro without apple care do i still have the right as a costumer to get my keyboard repaired for free if it stops working? I live in Europe and even with college discount it still cost more than the non-college discount MacBook Pros in America.

I am not sure about Europe specifics but generally speaking, you get a free repair only if Apple acknowledges the issue and offers free repairs/replacement covering the issue.

If you do not buy AppleCare then after the first year it will be you against Apple in determining if there is a fault they should cover. That said if you buy anything pre-2018 then you know there is a 4-year repair cover on the keyboard if the fault develops.

Buy a new 2018 MacBook and at the moment it's good and without fault, unless it develops the same issues, Apple acknowledge it and extend the 4-year repair cover to it.

Appreciate it's a cost but AppleCare is one of those things from Apple that is actually worth it. Remember you do not need to buy it at the same time as the laptop, you only need to purchase it before the 1-year warranty ends.

I guess I’m gonna have to make sure to wash my hands every time using the new keyboard and not have food anywhere near it and smack the hand of every person trying to get near my MacBook then lol!

Oh, that’s good to hear. Yeah, I defiantly cannot effort spending more money this year. It really hurt seeing all those money disappear from my account after repurchasing the 15-inch

Yes, you have 2 years warranty and up to 6 years to claim if you can demonstrate the defect was there at time of purchase

Not always easy to do but a good chance with a KB failure IMO given past history on recent MBP modelss

AppleCare has never been worth it for me in the UK. Consumer law covers me for defects and my home insurance covers accidental damage.
