Mine is about 4 years old. Since then I have new, faster devices--like iPhone 4 and iPad. My MBP is still sluggish; it's 3 or 4 years old and has an older airport inside that's slower than my GF's newer MBP's airport. Jacking into the Airport Extreme with Ethernet helps my machine a little, but not much.

Basic question: has the Airport Extreme improved N wifi enough over the years that getting a new one will improve throughput on iPad, iPhone 4, and iPhone 3G?

We are sick of being unable to wifi stream 720 YouTube videos; they stutter and halt. Streaming Lie To Me from the Web is not too bad; occasional jitters.

This is on Cablevision Optimum online.

Newer MBP downloads wifi at 5558 KBS.
Older MBP downloads wifi at 3034 KBS.
iPhone 4 downloads wifi at ~9000 KBS.

(Jeez, why is my iPhone 4 so much faster than both our MBPs?!?)

Anyway, I just need to know if buying a new Airport Extreme should help.

therwise, maybe I should be replacing the Airport in my MBP.

Thanks for any help, Airport gurus!
