hi, i'm just curious whether you have to give contact and bank details etc. when buying a handset from o2 shop or do you do that when activating on itunes

Thats right - O2 shop was took all of 2 mins to complete purchase, whereas CPW wanted forms etc filled in.

Mind you I slightly regret I didn't get it from an Apple store...

Oh and for the OP the signup process on iTunes is simple. All you need is your sort code and account number.
