Looking to buy a used, older MBP that was originally from about end of 07, probably the first gen LED screen. I couldn't find any info on "Display 065-7038". Anyone know if this is an LED screen or how to know for sure?

With the following configuration:

* Processor 065-7017 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
* Memory 065-7020 2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
* Hard Drive 065-7023 160GB Serial ATA Drive@5400rpm
* Optical Drive 065-7025 SuperDrive 8x
* Display 065-7038 15" Glossy Widescreen Display
* Modem 065-7026 No Modem
* Apple Software Solutions 065-6200 No Optional S/W
* Keyboard/Mac OS Language 065-7033 BkLit Keyboard/Mac OS
* Country Kit/AEX 065-7036 Country Kit

if the screens yellow at the bottom then yeah, it is.

nah, seriously now, yeah i think it is, i have the 2.2ghz LED screen MBP. as far as I know they are the only ones that came out with a 2.2ghz processor. And yeah, i happen to be taking mine back tomorrow cos the screens turned yellow at the bottom, so make sure you don't get one with a defective screen.

LED screens were first used in the MacBook pro SR. Look in the system profiler for "MacBookPro3,1"

Also,

if you go to the system settings, under Hardware the light bulb icon is a traditional light bulb if its a normal screen and an energy savings light bulb if its an LED screen.

A 15" MacBook Pro with an 8x SuperDrive is definitely an LED-backlit model. The last of the fluorescent-backlit models had a 6x SuperDrive in the 15" model and was made from the end up 2006 until some time in 2007. There are other giveaways, such as the 2.2GHz processor.
