hey everyone,

does anyone have a link to somewhere selling the correct RAM for the new 5k iMac in the UK? Would really appreciate it also if anyone could shed light on if this RAM is the same as that from the 2012/2013 iMacs?

Thanks very much!!

It's the same model of Intel cpu so the ram from 2012/13 models is identical.

Ddr3 1600mhz sodimm. I picked up 16gb of crucial stuff labeled for 2012 iMacs on Amazon for £116.

I didn't look around too much to see if I could get a better deal.

I ordered direct from Crucial for £127. Order through Quidco and you get a discount. Received it today but my iMac delivery has been delayed from tomorrow to friday.

How does it work if you go with the stock 8GB and want a 16GB configuration. Can you just order an 8GB Dimm from Crucial and bang it in with the factory 8GB?

What are the slot and speed dependencies (is it 2 x 4 or 1 x 8 factory installed)?

No, the 8 is two 4's. You can order 2x4Gb (to give 16Gb total), or 2x8Gb (to give 24Gb total) or 4x8Gb and take the stock ones out to give 32Gb.

is there any impact on performance combining 4gb and 8gb sticks?
