Is it possible to buy a refurb iphone from an apple store? I'm eligible for the upgrade through AT&T but i'd rather get the apple warranty of 1 year than the AT&T warranty of 90 days. I currently have an iphone 3g.

Any thoughts? Would it be possible to swap out my 3g for a refurb 4 at the apple store?

Apple doesn't sell the refurbs, AT&T does. They refurbish them and then resell them. The warranty is 90 days, however I have heard the phone carries the Apple warranty from the original purchase.

My friend bought a refurb iPhone 4 on on March 25th, but it was delivered and activated on March 30th but Apple's website shows that it was originally registered on February 15th, 2011.

A month after getting his phone the ear mic began making a buzzing sound, so we went to the Apple Store to get it looked at. The Genius did replace his phone but told us that if in the future his phone needs to be serviced again after Feb 15, 2012 but before March 30th, 2012, to just bring in a copy of his receipt from AT&T and they will honor the 1 year warranty.
