buying snow leopard for a macbook

do i have to buy the official discs direct from apple or can i buy a 2nd hand copy from ebay?

people sell the install discs that came with their macs on there...

does it matter if i buy a leopard install disc that came with another mac to start with? will it be compatible with any mac or is it specific to the macbook it came with?

Discs that come with Macs are compatible only with that specific Mac model. You need to buy the retail version.
