Buying T-Mobile iPhone 6 at Apple Store, then trade in at T-Mobile store?

can anyone confirm that this is allowed? i spoke to two reps over the phone and they said it was okay, but i have a bad feeling when i take it in to the t-mobile store after buying it from the apple store that they won't honor the trade-in promotion. i plan on trading in my iphone 4.
