friend is buying a new iPhone next week...said he'd sell me his old iPhone for $20...but i dont plan on getting it connected AT ALL for cellular service...i will use it as an iPod and to connect to WI-FI...atleast thats my plan...what should i know before this transaction goes down? i realize this ? is common however, all the other ?'s in the forum included a service/connection ? where as i dont want to have it connected...thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure that once he restores the phone as a new one in iTunes, all he will need to do for u is keep his AT&T sim in the phone while it activates. Then he can take out his sim, u can then just use wifi.

I'll let others chime in though to confirm my thoughts.
 
thanks for the quick reply...yes, the SIM card...ive never thought about that...i didnt even knwo they had a SIM...do they work properly without a SIM?
