Buying used iPhone - What do I need to know?

I am planning to buy a used 1G iPhone soon. Is there anything that I need to know.

Like, will my current AT&T sim card work in the iPhone? Any thing else that might affect me in any way w/iPhone?

i never knew there was a 1G iPhone? Analog iPhone?
anyway, if you want to use it on at&t it doesn't need to be unlocked, but most iphones on sale are. if it is unlocked, you can use your sim card no matter what, if it isn't your sim card must be 'iphone activated'
