Buying vinyl, download the mp3's?

I'm curious because I buy most, but not all music from the iTunes store. What I don't buy there I buy on vinyl. Typically, new albums come with a card to download the mp3's for the vinyl album purchased, but I'm fairly certain that you cannot do this on an iPad correct?

Is there a way I can download these songs and then add them to iTunes/iCloud on an iPad?
