I just bought an iHome iH11 to listen to music from my iPhone 3GS. The only problem is when the speaker is on at the same time as the screen on my iPhone, there is a loud buzz that I can hear. The buzz gets much worse when I am touching the screen, and almost goes completely away when the screen is turned off. I've turned airplane mode on and it makes no difference at all.
I tried this with another iPhone, a 3G this time, and there is a very small amount of buzz, but none near the scope of the 3GS. Also, the buzz does not change when the screen is touched. The 3G is livable, the 3GS is just terrible.
Is this an issue with my iPhone not having proper electrical shielding, or a problem with the iHome not having proper shielding? I'm thinking it's the iPhone because I have also noticed that if I hold the phone to my ear when the screen is on, there is a high pitched whine that I've learned to live with. On the other hand, I've never heard the buzz on my other (and cheaper) iPod dock that I have.
Thanks.
