buzzing sound when playing CD

I inserted a new CD-R into the 2009 20 inch iMac yesterday and it made a loud buzzing thumping noise for a while. The noise wouldn't stop until I ejected the disc. It doesn't do this with other CDs. I searched these forums and couldn't find a similar problem. Has anyone else experienced this and what did you do to fix it?
