It died. I can not believe it. I got up this morning and took it of the charger and checked my calendar. I then went down stairs with it and the screen would not turn on. 20 minutes on the charger later... nothing. I think my iPad has well and truly gone to heaven.

Even though everything is backed up, I still had a mini panic attach. I have come to really depend on the ipad and now I have a feeling I am going to have to spend a couple of days without it :( Any advice on what else I might try before I make the hour and a half journey back to where I bought it?:

Hold down power and home together for ten seconds. Wait one full minute. Hold down power button until Apple logo shows up.

Yep, I tried both of those things and again when you suggested it. Still nothing. Just a black screen.

Yep... That's what I thought. Good thing I didn't really have much planned for today. Well even if I did it was on the iPad and therefore void now.

I had an iPod Touch that took an hour on the charger before anything showed up, not sure why. Leave it plugged in longer

This happened to me once. Held down the power & home for longer than i can remember and it came back.

Likewise, happened to me once with my old iPhone 3G... Just kept fiddling with it, holding down buttons, combinations of buttons, etc. and suddenly it came back to life... Don't ask me why or what I did to resusitate it..

This just happened to me 2 days ago. Was playing a game on it - then pressed the power button to put it to sleep. Had about 90% battery.

then after that it would not start at all.

it would not recognize a wall charger, itunes would not see it.

Anyways as mentioned - I just did the power/home button for about 10 seconds and nothing. tried it again for 10 seconds and nothing.

then i just held both buttons down and didn't let ago and finally the apple logo came on and it restarted fine after 30 seconds or so.

Scared the crap out of me....

Just try it a few times. Same thing happened to me once.
Otherwise have someone at an Apple store help you.

I got a chuckle out of this. Not being a grammar nazi, just laughing at the idea of having a little panic attach. Mental image of a little green dude chewing on your leg or something. :D I've had a few of those myself when my techno toys are being finicky.

As long as the little green dude is making the noise "OM NOM NOM!"

I wonder if the OP's iPad ever came back or if it had to be exchanged?
