Bypass activation screen on iPhone 3GS

Is it possible to bypass the activation screen on a 3GS? I bought a new 3GS off ebay, but it's from a different country/carrier. I need to bypass the activation screen so I can unlock it.

Depends on which firmware version it's loaded with. If it's 3.1.2 on baseband 05.11.07 it can be hacktivated and unlocked with www.blackra1n.com or jailbroken with Redsn0w or Spirit (http://www.iclarified.com/jailbreak/iphone3gs/windows.php?firmware=3.1.2) but if you're on 3.1.3 with a newer baseband (05.12.01) you are **** out of luck right now. Unless the previous owner saved the SHSH blobs via Cydia and you have a 3GS with the older bootrom, this would allow you to jailbreak it but not use it for calls/SMS until the next unlock is released. (Best case is end of June. 2010...)
