Hi,

I bought a late 2017 15" MBP, while giving it a reinstall I noticed that it was previously owned by 'Klarna Bank AB'. I live in The Netherlands and have no affiliation with any swedish company whatsoever! It said that it was Remote Management and I had to login with LDAP credentials. Which I obviously don't have! I tried bypassing it by re-reinstalling it, turn off Wi-Fi and continue setup. But it said it NEEDED to connect to the internet in order to install a "critical software-update". So I did and it came back to the same MDM screen again.

I am trying to see if I can get some information about the first owner, but it's a bit more complicated given the fact I am the 3rd owner.

Is there any other way I can bypass this screen, continue setup and then maybe later disable remote management?

All help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
-Lars

You need to try to contact the bank to try to get them to remove the computer from their system but only they can remove it from that system. There's a non-zero possibility that the computer is stolen.

I would try and contact the person you brought it from, as BrianBaughn said if it has remote management enabled it could be wiped at any time.

This does sound like a potentially stolen laptop sadly.

For the record: I bought it second hand from someone from Hungary (later found out he was Ukranian but whatever) and the owner before him was "supposed to be" the first owner. So yeah it could very well be stolen. I don't know. I told him if I don't get any useful information I want my money back. Seems fair right?

If you have the opportunity to return the computer for a refund, do so. The chances that this can be resolved by the seller are very slim.
