PROBLEM SOLVED BY ACQUIRING NEW COPY OF WIN XP. IT WAS THE CD THAT WAS FAULTY

Had it working for a few days and realized tonight that I had it formatted in fat32. Since I need to hold files bigger than 4gb I thought I re-format the drive and do a new installation of windows and now I get the error message:

STOP: c0000221 Unknown hard error /ntdll.dll

I found this out about it:

To resolve this problem, obtain a new copy of the corrupted file or reinstall Windows XP. If you continue to receive any one of the error messages that are described in the "Summary" section after you reinstall Windows XP, a hardware problem or a network problem may exist.

Anyone else had this happen to them?

Help Appreciated!

When during the installation have you formatted the HDD with NTFS?

If you did it at the first opportunity, then you have the culprit. In order to avoid that error, format the HDD when you're asked specifically if you want to format it.

The first opportunity is the one where you first have to delete the fat32 partition and then re-format it with NTFS.

So to be successful, you should run Boot Cam Assistant again to delete the partition, then to create the FAT32 partition, then run the installer and select NTFS when your asked if you want to format the partition with NTFS in either Quick Format or Normal Format (takes hours depending on the size of your Boot Camp partition).

I've deleted the partition in Boot Camp Assistant. Made a new one (which by default is FAT32 (right?). I then start the installation but thats as far as I get. The code comes up before the selection of the four alternatives on how I want to format the drive. :(
