What cable would I need to hook up a late 2011 to early 2012 MBP to a Dell U2713HM monitor to get full resolution? Thanks.

I dont have that monitor but I think it has display port. I saw some on Amazon - the minidisplay to display cable.

I think that monitor has no hdmi? You can also the DVI port using mini display to dvi adapter.

It has one hdmi port, but hdmi won't give you 2560 x 1440 if I am correct. Will the mdp to dp give you audio also?

That didn't last long, after I ordered the monitor I started reading posts about the U series monitors not working so well with MBP's and after article upon article I canceled the order. Now I will just get the TBD like I should have done in the beginning and been done with it. Now do I get a new or refurb? Thanks for the previous help though, that's what makes this site great.

I'd either get a refurb or wait for the redesigned model.

The new model would be thinner and have a laminated screen for reduced glare and "painted on top" effect, like the new iMacs, along with USB 3.0 support.

Just FYI, the latest HDMI standard already supports up to 4k video. That doesn't necessarily mean that the monitor and/or adapter will though. The "1080p limit" existed only on the very very first revision of HDMI.

My Dell U3011 works great over DisplayPort; another monitor to consider. You can always find coupons and deals on this.

Sure the cable works, but the Dell monitor when connected with HDMI will limit you to 1920x1200.

Dell Monitor U2713HM for MacBook Pro with MDP

I have a mid 2010 MacBook Pro and was unable to get the 2560 x 1440 resolution on my Dell U2713HM monitor with the cables that came with the monitor. I used a minidisplay to display cable and was able to get full resolution.
