Cage Fighter doesn't work in 10.4.6

I have just updated to 10.4.6 and cagefighter seems to have been turned off but when i try to turn it back on nothing is happening with mail it is staying exactly the same. Am i doing something wrong - I shouldn't have rounded buttons checked right?? Any advice would be most appreciated.
