I updated the currency rates yesterday and it screwed it all up:rolleyes:

The problem in fact started when I updated the currencies.. This was like 2 weeks ago or something... I keep trying to update them again and the box saying what currencies were updated and what were not does not list anything, just the OK button  :)

Although this does not fix your immediate problem with Calculator, KoalaCalc is a nice calculator that does conversions.

Under your home folder:

Library/Application Support/Calculator/FinancialRates.plist is the conversion table. You may want to trash that while Calculator is not running.

More calculator guts: your Library/Preferences/com.apple.calculator.plist, and the Calculator folder under your Library/Caches

The currency conversions in Calculator have been very odd lately. The update presents a gigantic dialog box with an apparently empty list of updated currencies, and then the From and To menus are padded with so much extra space that you can only see the names with the menus held down. Worse (this part could be a coffee deficiency speaking), the conversions appear to be reversed.

When I go to choose the currency I get a buggered up drop down list.
Then the original currency doesn't register...

EDIT: Tried trashing stuff and it's still the same

Yeah, the currencies are remembered, but there is so much extra whitespace that you can't see what you selected. If you try a conversion, it does seem to sort of work (but with reversed conversions)

you know... i never actually knew calculator did conversions.

Ive never looked at the top bar... Had a mac for 4/5 years and thats the first ive seen it... mental

Some currencies seem to work and others don't.
$100 = £196
CA$100 = £169??

Hey there,

I'm getting the same problems with calculator. I thought it was just a bug where calculator couldn't collect info with the majority of the markets being closed down for Christmas... Apparently not.

The bundled convertor widget in Dashboard seems to work still.

Tried to delete files as well and still nothing. The widget converter works but it does not have Maltese Liri :D that is what i use... its a problem living in a small island in the middle of the mediterranean :)

PS. When i ry to convert something no action is taken, it even forgot the previous rates...
