I just picked up the Caldigit USB-C Pro dock for my 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro. Although this dock supports TB3, I noticed it only has (1) TB3 port preventing daisy chaining. My question is, if I were to buy the new 24" LG UltraFine which has (2) TB3 ports... would I be able to daisy chain them in the following configuration?

15-inch MacBook Pro -> TB3 Cable -> LG 24" UltraFine -> TB3 Cable -> CalDigit USC-C Pro Dock

I don't totally understand daisy chaining compatibility, so some help in understanding whether this would work or not is appreciated! Are there any downsides to this? Bandwidth using an SSD or other considerations?

Yes, that would be the way to connect them.

Most people would go Dock -> Monitor, but since they both are TB3... I just wanted to make sure going Monitor to Dock wouldn't have any inherent performance/reliability issues.

It'll be fine. The same bandwidth is available regardless of the order, and the USB-C Pro Dock doesn't have passthrough Thunderbolt, so it must be at the end of the chain.
