OS 10.8.2 but question not specific to the OS.

I use a Gmail calendar that I sync to my iMac calendar. I don't have any events in my Mac calendar, all events sync from my Gmail calendar. Same for contacts. They are all in Google.

So when I look at...
Calendar > preferences> Google > delegation >
I get an option to check CONTACTS

Can someone tell me why I would want to select CONTACTS. I can see why I need to select all my extra google calendars but what purpose does Contacts play. I can't see a difference if I select it or not. Where would contacts even show up in my calendar?

Thanks...
