I use the Mac/iOS Calendar app as my main calendar but would like to create an event that counts the anniversary of that event.

I currently create recurring annual events such as "Arrival in New York (2019)" to help me remember when a certain event happened and a year. I would prefer the event to say "5th anniversary of Arrival in New York" or something like that - similar to a birthday entry where it shows "Jane Doe 50th Birthday"

Does such a feature exist?

I think the simplest solution would be to create a contact for the event and add a birthday (I don't see that anniversaries for contacts show up in calendar). I just did this with the date I moved to my current city.

And if you have a few, you could create a list group in Contacts. Or preface the name(s) with a letter that keeps them at the end or beginning of your contact list.
