When im in the built in calendar app on my iPhone 14 Pro on iOS 16 and try to use the search feature of the calendar app at the top to search my calendar for a specific even using a keyword such as Dr. Appointment etc which are all events that i have entered into my calendar during the past year and i know for certain are entered into my calendar. How do i fix this? What causes this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Tap the Calendars item at the bottom of the screen and make sure all your calendars are visible. Unchecked/hidden calendars are not searched.

And in settings, check to make sure that "All Events" is checked under Calendar's "Sync" option (vs 1/3/6 months back).

Thanks for the reply. I checked and verified all is set up as you mentioned in your post above but search within the built in calendar app is still not bringing up any results when I search for any keywords relating to past entries I’ve entered into my calendar. Do you have any other suggestion as to why this might be?

Using calendars from Google, Outlook, other? Might be something on their end that is only pushing events that go back only a certain amount of time?

Are these events in the future or past? If past, are they visible if you scroll back in time.

Might want to see if the events are showing via appropriate web page/site (ie. If iCloud, iCloud.com calendar).

If iCloud, might try turning off Calendars in iCloud settings and then reenable to force a sync/refresh.

The events that don’t show up in calendar search are events in the past from a couple of months back. Is there a place to specify how long back the search within calendar searches for? All future scheduled events show up in calendar search when I searched for the proper keyword so the search function works but for some reason it doesn’t let me search for events from the far past such as last year etc.

Calendar will find old events if they are there. Just tested it: created an even for Jan 2023 with same title as one I have in a couple of weeks, found both and showed the old event "greyed out".

So sounds like you are not getting all the events pushed to the phone. If using stock Apple apps/iCloud, should be seeing everything if the "sync all". If not using iCloud, there might be a setting under Accounts for that provider that controls what gets synced. Or it might be set on the server side via defaults and or user preferences there. Think I've seen where some calendar tools might archive or delete old events.

Scroll through your calendar in Calendar back through the year (list view might be way to go). See old events? If not, sync issue of some type going on.
