I just noticed that Calendar has an email alert feature which seems really useful (you can set it up to email you whenever there's a birthday coming up, for example). However, I also noticed that you need to be on your Mac for this notification to be sent. This means that if I'm travelling without my Macbook for a few days, I won't get any notifications, which seems to defeat the purpose of having Calendar synced to iCloud (and hence synced to my iPhone / iPad). If I leave my Macbook for a few days and just use my iPhone / iPad, I no longer get these notifications. Is there any way around this? Thanks very much in advance!

But you dont need an email alert if your syncing to icloud on your iphone/ipad. You just get a notification instead from the calendar app directly. Thats why it doesn't need to send an email.
