Calendar in Mavericks can't import ics files?

Since upgrading to Mavericks I haven't been able to import ics files into Calendar to update it. If I double-click the ics file I also get a blank calendar. I had no problem downloading the ics files and dragging them into Calendar previously, and a '+' symbol does appear when I drag them over now, but the events are not added. Any ideas?
