My mother passed away 18 years ago this month. In her honour we had purchased a city park bench in 2003 with touching words and her name/birth/death. My father received an email from the city stating that in 2053 the bench will require renewal but he expects he will be unable to respond as he'll be 108 by then. I've been given this task but I'm pretty good at forgetting important dates (wedding anniversary's, kids birthdays, trash pickup days) so I put it in my iPhone.

What do you think the chances are I will get the notification, assuming I'm alive?

I’m sorry for your loss.

If you keep restoring from backup, or you keep the same iCloud account for that long, then I think chances are high that you’ll receive the alert. It’s stored the same way as any other calendar event, and 2053 is not nearly high enough to overflow the integer limit, so as long as you keep the same account, I think you should be fine.

The real question is whether this thread will still be here on the MR Forums by then, and if anyone will be able to find it.
