I attempted a real search for this question and all I found was synching between Mac and IOS Calendar.

My wife wants to synch her Mac Calendar with my Mac Calendar. Is this possible and if so, how?

You can do that easily with a free iCloud account. You can either both use the same calendar that gets synced, or you can each have your own calendar with them both syncing to both Macs.

I understand iCloud accounts but we each own our macs separately. We each have a unique iCloud account.

I think you want to "share" your calendars with one another. In the Calendar app on your Mac, click Calendars in the upper left, then right-click (or control-click) the calendar you want to share to reveal the menu items for managing the sharing status of your calendars. Same menu items are also under Edit on the Calendar menu bar when a calendar is selected.

In ML, be aware that calendar changes are announced in Notification Center (can be useful, but unexpected, to see them).
