Calendar won't schedule repeating events.

When I open Calendar in Yosemite I can add a new event, but can't schedule it to repeat. As soon as I click on the edit section to type in a repeat sequence the spinning color wheel of death appears for several seconds and Calendar quits.

Anyone else suffering this issue...any suggestions as to remedies?
