I share my calendar with some people and they share theirs with me. On iOS there is an option to show changes or disable it so that if someone edits or adds to their calendar, you can choose to receive a notification or not. I have it disabled on my calendar and their calendars and I receive no notifications. However on Mac, I still get notifications everytime someone adds to their calendar or makes any changes. Is there a setting to disable notifications in the calendar app on Mac?

Same thing. Right-click the calendar in question, choose "Get Info", and check "Ignore alerts".
