Hi guys. I need help on a problem both Apple and Virgin Mobile can't solve. I'm not even sure if the problem is the iPhone itself or something else... So here we go.
Symptoms: During a call, usually after 4 minutes (sometimes less), the sound gets either heavily distorted or it gets weaker and weaker to the point where I can't hear anything. On other occasions, the sound just comes and goes. People can sometimes still hear me while this is happening, but sometimes they can't. The problem is intermittent.
What I've done: I've reinstalled iOS several times, from a backup and from nothing (configured the iPhone as new). I've tried using different cases. I've changed my microSIM card for a new one (which solved the problem for a few days... but since the problem is intermittent, maybe I was just lucky).
And finally, I had my iPhone replaced for a new one, out of warranty, since Apple and Virgin said my phone had to be the problem. The Genius guy said he didn't know what caused this, but even if he knew, the solution was to replace it. Either I was very unlucky and got a defective iPhone again or the problem is the network or something else. I've had my iPhone for almost 2 years and I've never had any problems with it. So why now?
So far, I've only had this problem at home. But I can't know for sure if that's relevant since it's intermittent. IF the problem is in my apartment, what causes this and why now? I haven't changed anything in my apartment that could cause interferences. I thought the problem might have been coming from my MacBook, that maybe the new Mountain Lion OS somehow interfered with my iPhone but I tried turning it off... and I still have the problem.
So what do you think? Thanks in advance for any help!
