Call sensor problem after upgrade to iOS4

i have recently jailbroke to ios 4 my iphone 3GS.

the problem that i have right now is that when i make a call and place it to my ear the screen turns off by the sensor. when i take it down it doesnt recognise it and instead of turning the screen on so i can and a call or use the buttons it remains turned off.
i dont know what the solution of this problem is but for me its very annoying everytime i make a call to end it using the sleep/wake button.

not only that but every now and then it enters safe mode and i need to restart. this happens when i end a call using the sleep/wake button

if anybody knows anything about this problem please help
