Calling all bird aficionados: What kind of bird is this?

From a quick Google search I think this is a Turkey Vulture but not 100% sure. Reason I'm asking is that it was outside my parents house camping out on the rooftop. Never seen one of these before so it was kinda cool. Also freaked the parents out quite a bit too. Any ideas?
