Anybody here using a 68x0 card in their Mac Pro?
How are they finding it?
I bought myself a XFX Dual Fan (HD-678A-ZDFC) 1GB, flashed it and even tho it works wonderfully under full load, it keeps crashing/freezing my machine in OS X and W7 at random points. 100% certain if the DVI monitor isn't plugged in.
Setup:
mDP to DP: Hazro 27" @ 2560x1440
DVI to DVI: Hazro 26" @ 1920x1200
This is what happens when it falls over:
I've reseated the card and all that but still does it.
I can force it to freeze by:
1. Waking it from sleep with the mDP monitor off.
2. Only having the mDP monitor connected.
3. Only having the DVI monitor connected.
I think these are all related to power saving mode, because with both screens connected and on it kicks up to full 3D mode, where-as if only one screen is connected it goes into power saving mode.
Cindori, Netkas, ideas? I really need this to be 100% stable, so if we can't fix it I will have to find myself a reference 5870 and flash it or wait until the 7 series Mac Pro cards come out. Or go nvidia *shudder*.
Edit: Ok, this is WEIRD behaviour.
If one display is plugged in (any combination of HDMI/DVI/mDP) then it WILL crash.
If two displays are plugged in (any combination of HDMI & DVI/mDP & DVI, DVI & HDMI) then it is fine.
Cheers!
