The antennae of the iPhone is the metal band. When you cover than up with metal, you are degrading the signal. Some metal cases now have a section of plastic, but you will still get signal loss. If you live in a strong signal area, it may not bother you though as much as it would if you are on a fringe-1-3 bar area.

just wondering because you said you've tried a few aluminum cases. have you also tried the atomic hybrid? was that also a no go for you? it seems like that case would work because like 75% of it is derlin.
