When opening up the camera app and looking to take a picture, does anyone have a black smudge on the screen? Thats what it almost looks like.

No. It has a blur effect before clearing up so you can take a picture. When you close the app, it blurs up once more before exiting. At least that's what's happening for me, iP5.

EDIT: Interestingly, the whole blur effect I described doesn't happen when your access the camera from the lock screen. I just checked...

Just took a picture of my wall

I second this thought. Check your lens to make sure it's okay.

It's still unlikely but just check. The way it looks very out of focus could indicate a lens issue.

I checked it the lens and everything is fine. I did a hard reset as well. My guess is going to apple to get a new phone.

That is probably a piece of dust under the glass cover of the camera. Not much you can do about that. Apple might even replace you phone for you because its really hard to get that clean.

I just downloaded a camera app to take another picture and the smudge is still there. I am guessing its either hardware or like you said something with the lens but it was not there earlier today before I downloaded iOS 7.

Is anyone else having this problem? I seem to be the only one right now.

If you are having the problem in two different apps, then its not a software issue. It is def a smuge or dust on the actual camera.

I will just go to apple tonight and see what they say. Thanks.

I had this issue about a year ago after buying the iPhone 5. Took it to the Apple Store and they replaced it on the spot (it was still under the original warranty).

I just got this phone as well too since my last iPhone 5 had software/hardware issues. Will go to apple tonight. Thanks.

This is simply dust trapped between your lens and the camera sensor. Take it to Apple, and (if still in warranty), they'll either clean it for you there or give you a new phone. I had about 5 or 6 big dust specs in my iPhone 5...I lived with it until last week, when I brought to the Genius Bar. They cleaned off all but one big speck and then gave me a new iPhone 5.

I understand I am just confused on how something got into the lens within 30mins of it just sitting on my desk. Just a little weird.

I have an apple appointment tonight. Will let everyone know the update when I get back.

It was like some dust was stuck in there and it's definitely hardware.
