Just noticed this as well. Not particularly dark in here and the icon is off by default, but I can then switch it on if I bring up the sub menu.
That means that there is a way, under certain circumstances to switch night mode on.
Strangely though, if I switch to the 52mm lens, which lets less light in, the Night Mode icon disappears so I can't manually switch it on. only works with the 26mm lens
