I just got an ipad2 with camera kit. I tried it with the SD card read and it shows up fine. When i use USB and plug the card reader in + SD card in card reader; it says something maybe damage and doesn't show any photos in my SD card. I tried it with memory stick and it shows all the pictures. Any idea why?

There may not be enough power sent to the usb to properly power up that card reader.

You can use the iPad camera kit to read SD cards or connect a camera directly to it. It will not act as a standard USB and will not work with a USB card reader.

But how come ipad reads my USB card reader with memory stick?

It's a power issue; Apple stepped down the power to the CCK and it will only read USB cards that meet the lowered power requirements (or have external power). A card reader is not going to draw much power, but many USB drives do:

Yeah, i heard about this a while ago.

So i assume a memory stick draws lower power therefore i can use it with USB card reader while SD card draws more power and can't use it with USB card reader?

Can anyone try this and confirm it?

What's the point of using an SD card reader with the USB adapter rather than just using the SD adapter?

So i don't need to bring the SD card reader. I can just bring the USB card reader because i have different types of memory cards.
